The Great American Solar Eclipse with Harry LaForge

Harry LaForge, Flight Instructor and NASA Historian, will give a talk on the total eclipse. His talk will explain how, why, and where to safely observe the event, and will discuss its historical significance.

Telescopes & the Solar Eclipse with the Western Montana Astronomical Association
Mon., Aug. 7, 6 PM in the Large Meeting Room
Learn about Missoula Public Library’s two circulating telescopes from the experts of the Western Montana Astronomical Association. There will be hands-on demonstrations and a Q & A, so bring your questions!

Meteorites, Earth, Moon, & Sun Scales — Fun with the Solar Eclipse

Learn about sunlight, solar system sizes, ways to experience the extremely rare upcoming solar eclipse, and touch some actual rocks from space! All ages and experience levels are welcome.

Solar Eclipse Viewing Event
Mon., Aug. 21, 10:15 AM at Kiwanis Park
Watch the partial solar eclipse (we aren’t quite on the full eclipse line in Missoula) with safety glasses provided by the library. The glasses allow you to look directly at the eclipse while protecting your eyes from the sun’s damaging rays.
