HOW TO PARTICIPATE

  1. PICK UP a Summer Reading Log at your Library. One per person. LAST DAY to pick up logs is AUG 19. Ends AUG 31.
  1. THE LOG. Color in one circle for every half hour you read or listen to a book (audio books are OK).
  1. PRIZES! When you’ve reached a specific level on the log, come to the Library and collect your prize.
  1. THE END. Prizes must be collected by AUG 31.

TALKING ROCKS
HELLGATE MINERAL SOC.

JULY 16, 6:30 - 8 PM

 The folks at Hellgate Mineral Society will teach us what types of minerals are common in the Missoula area, and where it’s best to look for them. We’ll learn how to find rock and mineral specimens, and what geologic event they might represent. This is an awesome learning program for all ages.

 

MT ROOTS IN ROCK:
LOST SOUNDS MONTANA

JULY 21, 11 AM - 12:30 PM

 Explore Montana’s rock and roll history! Dave Martens, Host and Lost Sounds of Montana creator, will discuss his mission to preserve, archive, showcase, and make accessible the music and associated history of Montana across the decades. He will also discuss current and future LSMT projects.

 

THE KILTED MAN
INSTRUMENT & MUSIC ED.

JULY 24, 6:30 PM

 The Kilted Man, Matthew Gurnsey, delights audiences of all age groups with his rousing performances of traditional Irish and Scottish Music. This program will explore the sounds and origins of many ancient and/or unique instruments such as the Bowed Psaltery, Concertina, and the Bodhran.

Create your own mosaic out of a variety of intriguing materials.

JULY 2: MAKING MUSIC with Jim Gill, musician and early literacy star      

Jim is a nationally-known artist who will show us how delightful it is to learn through movement and song.

JULY 10: EXPLORING FOSSILS with Kallie Moore, UM paleontologist

An awesome scientist will show us the wondrous things we can learn by digging up the past.

JULY 24: MUSEUM OF THE ROCKIES - DINO KIT 

Interactive fun with dinosaur facts.
