How do I get a library card and how much does it cost?

  • A library card is free to all Montana residents.  Please provide a picture ID and proof of your current mailing address.

Is there a limit on the number of items I can borrow?

  • No.  Most items check out for 4 weeks and renew two times, provided there are no holds on the items.

What if I lose my library card?

  • Call (406) 721-2665 immediately so library staff can change the status of your card.  A replacement card costs $1.00.

What is my PIN?

  • Generally this is a four digit number assigned to you when you received your library card.  If you don’t remember your PIN, go to www.missoulapubliclibrary.org and click on Catalog.  In the upper right hand corner click on the I forgot my PIN box. Type in your library card number and, provided we have your email address on file, the system will send you your PIN.  Otherwise, call (406) 721-2665 and a staff member can help you.
