After five (5), a $3.00 postage fee per item will be assessed.

This service enables you to borrow materials from participating libraries across the country. To make an Interlibrary Loan (ILL), stop by the Reference desk or give us a call at (406)721-BOOK.

Materials printed this year are not available through the service.

Each patron is allowed five (5) postage paid interlibrary loan items per year. After five (5), a $3.00 postage fee per item will be assessed.

To make an Inter-Library Loan, stop by the Reference desk, call the library at (406) 721-2665, or Click Here to place an Interlibrary loan from outside the library.

You will need a special authorization number and password to place a request from outside the library. Enter the authorization code “100284096” and password “discovery.”  This will take you to the Basic Search screen.  From there, follow the steps for placing ILL requests on the reverse side of this handout.  Call the library at (406) 721-2665 for more information.

Since Inter-Library Loan items are on loan from a library outside of our consortium, please call the library at least one week before the item is due to request a renewal. Also, be aware that fines for Inter-Library Loan material are .50 a day.

Remember:

  • You must have a valid Missoula Public Library card to place a request.
  • Your Patron ID is your library card number.
  • You may not have more than 5 interlibrary loans on your card at any time.
  • Renewals must be requested prior to your due date.  Not all loaning libraries allow renewals.
  • Fines on Inter-Library Loan items are 50¢ per day.

If you have questions or need further assistance speak with a reference librarian.
