Our new Young Adult room is OPEN!!!
The new YA room offers more space, more computers, and LOTS more to do! So stop in and see what a great new spot we have for teens to find books, do homework & just hang out with friends. While you're here, you'll want to pick a title from our "new" display plus our displays on summer sports and crafts. When you think of your Missoula Public Library, think... more!
Looking to beat the heat of Missoula in the summer? Look no further.
SUMMERTIME at the library...
Read This!
Share what you're reading and get recommendations from other teens at our new Readers Club, Wednesday afternoons at 4 p.m. through Aug. 13. Can't make every meeting? That's OK, come to what you can. For ages 13-18. Free food!
Altered Books Artwork Contest
Turn books into a whole new work of art! Transform a discarded library book, then bring your finished project to the library by Friday, Aug. 1 - we'll display it and announce winners the following week. Winners will be awarded prizes in three categories: adult, teen, and children. That's right, we're actually telling you to draw in a library book... just make sure it's from our specially discarded collection (or else!).
Don't know how to start? Come to our workshop Saturday, July 12, at 2 p.m. for some great ideas. If you can't make it to the workshop, you can still enter the contest.
"Show Us Your Shorts" Video Contest
You've seen them on YouTube, now it's your turn... Make a short video with a library connection (doesn't have to be a commercial) and win prizes. Categories include: Best Comedy, Best Music Video, Best Animation, etc. Get an entry form at the YA desk or download one. Must be ages 13-18. Videos must be submitted by Aug. 1.
We'll show our winning entries at a Gala Screening Thursday, Aug. 14, at 7 p.m. Dress up for the "red carpet."
PLUS...
Our Teen Writers' Group continues to meet all summer. Do you like to write? The library hosts a teen writers group for ages 15-18 where you can share your own work and read that of your peers. Just drop in on Fridays at 4:30 p.m., or give us a call at 721-2665 for more information.
Have a great summer - we know we will!
Tell us what you like!

If you answered YES to any of the above, then you need to join Missoula Public Library’s Young Adult Advisory Council (YAAC).
The library is looking for new members ages 13-18 for the coming school year. So stop at the YA desk and let us know you're interested. (Looks great on a college application and/or resume!) For additional information or for an application, call 721-2665 or stop by the YA desk.
