Missoula International Friendship Program
If you would like to experience the culture of exotic places like Malaysia, Chile,
Botswana, Kazakhstan, and the Netherlands (to name just a few) without leaving your own home, the Missoula International Friendship Program has a place for you!
This program promotes friendships between new international students at the University of Montana and area residents who wish to befriend an international student for a period of one year. These relationships are not home-stays.
Imagine traveling to another country as a tourist and seeing the major sites. Then imagine being invited into someone’s home for a meal. The direct experience of seeing how others live, sharing food and communicating will be remembered as a highlight of your trip. You can provide that experience and more to a student and you too will have memories to last a lifetime.
To find out what this exciting program provides for both friends and students, go to:
www.mifp.org
If you would like to participate in the program, call UM’s Foreign Student and Scholar Services at 243-2226 and request an application form be mailed to you. Or go to www.mifp.prg and apply online.
Matching will be made for the 2008-2009 fall semester at the end of August.
Applications must be in by August 18, 2008 to be matched for fall semester.

Missoula Parks and Recreation
Often people are unaware of how vital recreation and leisure are to the quality of their lives. While fun, happiness and play are vital to growth and development, the expanded role of public parks and recreation is more critical than ever. Whether we know it or not, programs, services, events and opportunities offered by local, state and national park and recreation agencies positively impact many areas of our lives and society as a whole.
Everyone in the world has somehow benefited by public park and recreation programs at some time in their lives - directly or indirectly. The time has come to make the connection between past experiences and today's success, yesterday's activities and tomorrow's physical and mental wellness and today's taxpayer support and safe communities for our children and grandchildren. So, whether an avid participant or occasional observer, enjoy the benefits. It's everyone's right!

AniMeals
An estimated 10 million animals are abandoned every year. Many of the shelters and rescue groups that house and feed these animals are struggling. The AniMeals mission is to ensure that there are no more hungry animals. Our organization works to end hunger by providing dog and cat food to animal rescue groups, humane societies, shelters, and homebound/disabled households on fixed incomes that could not otherwise afford to feed their
companions. In the past year, our food bank operation has delivered over 40,000 pounds of food and supplies all over Western Montana.
We have recently expanded our work to include a rescue operation. We began saving the lives of animals marked for euthanasia. These animals are pulled from overcrowded shelters and put into our foster network until we can find forever homes for them. Once they are in our care, we have them spayed/neutered, vaccinated for rabies and distemper, and micro-chipped so they never have to face the threat of euthanasia again.
Visit our website at www.animeals.com to learn how you can help us ensure that these animals are never again hungry, alone, sick, afraid, or in pain.

Monte Dolak
A native of Great Falls, Monte Dolack grew up surrounded by the same sweeping vistas and big sky that inspired Charlie Russell. His love of Montana and passion for the West’s diverse landscapes and wildlife are evident in the images he creates and the commissions he undertakes.
After studying art at Montana State University and The University of Montana, Monte opened his first studio in 1974, beginning a successful career in fine art and graphics.
Monte has been the recipient of a number of prestigious awards in the course of his career, and his work is part of the collection of the Library of Congress, the American Association of Museums, the National Wildfire Foundation and numerous other museums and corporations. He was selected at the turn of the century by the Missoulian as one of the 100 most influential Montanans of the twentieth century.
A love of the natural world, combined with his exuberant curiosity and travel experiences, has shaped the content of Monte’s imagery. Blending mythology, technology and elements from nature, his work is infused with a sense of humor and irony. Monte’s keen interest in environmental issues has lead to commissions for the Nature Conservancy, Defenders of Wildlife and Trout Unlimited as well as over 200 posters and prints for various organizations.
In addition to his acrylic, oil and watercolor painting, Monte continues to pursue his interest in traditional printmaking, having created numerous original lithographs. With his wife, Mary Beth Percival and staff, he operates a flourishing gallery in downtown Missoula. Monte and Mary Beth have traveled extensively in the US, Europe, Mexico, New Zealand and Japan, visiting important cultural sites and museums.

The choice is yours... carpooling, biking, walking, transit, vanpooling, telecommuting, compressed work week. Missoula in Motion wants to help you design the best travel choice for your lifestyle, and for the well being of Missoula.
Missoula in Motion created the Way to Go! Club as a special way to reward those throughout the community who are choosing a different option than driving alone in their cars. By pledging to use another way to get to work at least once a week, you are helping to improve the quality of life for everyone in Missoula. Membership is FREE! Way to Go! Club members walk, bicycle, ride the bus, car or vanpool, telecommute from home or compress their work schedule to eliminate traffic congestion, reduce pollution, save money and gain great satisfaction from helping the community.
