May 25, 2022 Incident and Evacuation

This afternoon (5/25/22) an incident took place at Missoula Public Library’s downtown facility requiring law enforcement officers to use pepper spray and remove an uncooperative patron from the premises. This necessitated evacuating the building, to ensure the safety and well-being of all library visitors and staff. Due to the residual effects of the spray, the Library has closed for the remainder of Wednesday. We anticipate the air handling system will clear the building, and the Library will be able to re-open for our usual hours on Thursday. Missoula Public Library does not have further information about the incident at this time.
