AARP TaxAide

This tax season AARP Foundation TaxAide will offer free Federal and State tax preparation at Missoula Public Library on certain Mondays and Tuesdays from February 2nd through April 7th. From students to seniors and everyone in-between, if you file a simple 1040 Form the AARP Foundation TaxAide would love to see you! All TaxAide preparers are IRS certified and your Federal and State taxes will be electronically filed on site, thereby speeding up your refund.

How do I make an appointment?

What if I have to change/cancel my appointment?

You can do that online also. Just search for your appointment and modify it. Or you can call 406-285-1715.

Are walk-ins accepted?

Appointments are required for tax preparation. If you don’t have one, we can help you make an appointment. However, we do not have access to appointments that aren’t on the AARP website.

What should I bring?

Bring all your tax documents and, if you have it, last year’s taxes. A full list is provided on the AARP TaxAide website. You will also need photo identification (driver’s license or other similar id) and verification of your social security number.

Who can we help?

Anyone who has wages and/or retirement income. We specialize in low to moderate income taxpayers. We cannot help taxpayers who have Rental Income, Businesses with employees, assets or a loss for the year, or K1’s with other than interest dividends or capital gains.

Who do we call with issues?

If you have an issue with your tax return, call the number on the bottom of your tax return. If you have an issue with your appointment, please call the AARP line at 406-285-1715.  Library staff cannot provide you with appointment scheduling or tax help.

What if there are no appointments available?

New appointments are released approximately 3 weeks prior to the appointment date. Typically, it is hard to get an appointment for early February, but by March there are appointments available. We also offer services at the Lifelong Learning Center on Wednesday through Friday. Please note your appointment location accordingly.
