Gun Safety Lock Giveaway

In observance of National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, Missoula Public Health is providing free gun safety locks at Missoula Public Library throughout September. Pick up a gun lock at the safety desk on Level One, while supplies last. Limited to 2 locks per person. No questions asked, and no library card needed. This initiative is brought to you by Missoula Public Library, Missoula Public Health, and The Montana Happiness Project.

• Firearms account for 63% of all suicides in Missoula.
• Many suicide attempts happen quickly: 1 in 4 survivors acted within 5 minutes of suicidal thoughts. Half of survivors acted within 20 minutes.
